Busy Body: Part 2 - "The Ambitious Life"
Series: Busy Body

A few of us are old enough to remember a thing called “boredom”. That was from an era before we had infinity in our front pockets. Today, there’s almost no place to be alone with your thoughts anymore. Our minds have been conditioned to avoid silence and deep reflection.
The noise of our modern world is drowning out the voice of God in our lives. This creates a massive spiritual problem. It’s impossible to have a thriving inner life when we struggle to be alone with our thoughts, or meditate in God’s presence, for more than 30 seconds. Yet Jesus modeled a practice that will help us thrive in our modern, noisy, distracted world. Jesus regularly withdrew to quiet and lonely places. To be alone. Does it work? Well, there’s a reason why “mindfulness” is mentioned in almost every modern book on well-being. We were wired to have quiet places. And because of the Holy Spirit, we have something more powerful than mindfulness. We can have silence and solitude in God’s presence.
